Ain’t no weekend like a successful weekend
The mustache party Friday night for my boyfriend’s 30th was a hit. It’s endlessly entertaining to take photos with ‘staches – I think I’ll bust them out on the next gray Seattle day. By the time everyone showed up to the bar (people are always notoriously late), I was a pitcher and a half deep, and I completely forgot to take very many pictures, sing my boyfriend happy birthday or take a picture of him with the cake. Some host I am.
Saturday I stayed in bed and watched movies with the BF – Bride Wars, super cute, but just confirms my suspicions that brides are crazy and weddings are the devil; The Uninvited – sorta creepy, but super confusing at the end; and Twilight – I broke down and rented it, but fell asleep. Oh bummer. Boyfriend said he didn’t mind it.
The only thing productive I did that day was hit up The Cheesecake Factory for 30th birthday celebration #3! I’m going to get fat from the BF’s birthday. I ordered BBQ salmon and it was delish. In fact, everything slathered in BBQ sauce is delish. I could probably eat baby diapers and frog eyeballs if it were covered in BBQ…BF’s dad ordered a slice of banana cream cheesecake, and I about died and went to heaven. I stole approximately three bites off his plate, am definitely going to order that next time and am seriously contemplating making banana pudding this week.
Sunday I was uber productive – amazing what a day without a hangover can produce. I was like the Energizer Bunny after three shots of espresso and a RockStar energy drink. I made the BF breakfast, finally used the Starbucks espresso machine my parents handed down to me more than a year ago, finally cleaned and cleared the last little bit out of my old apartment (hey – have I mentioned how much moving sucks?), wrapped up a work project I didn’t complete (or start, haha) last week cause I was slacking, took an hour bike ride on the Burke-Gilman trail, did a wine tasting at Columbia Winery, ate dinner at a super great place in Redmond called Ooba’s Mexican Grill, and washed my car/cleaned out my trunk/detailed the inside for the first time since last SUMMER. I’d been driving around with an egg that some jack a$$ threw at my car last July, if that tells you anything. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not the greatest at car maintenance.
All in all, the weekend was great success!
Currently Feeling: Super excited about the press my company is getting for my work in social media.
Currently Anticipating: Cinco de Drinko potluck tomorrow at Bestie Amanda’s BF’s house!
Currently Loving: Breakfast sandwiches made with herb cream cheese, a melted Kraft single and Canadian bacon! Mmm.
And the bathing suit verdict is…
Number 2 AND Number 3!
Thanks to all of you for putting your two cents in! (Especially to the person who clicked “Blech! None of these! That was very helpful. Lol.) It was pretty much neck and neck between suit two and suit three (although suit three received one redacted vote from my good friend J. Lawson because he voted solely on the suite because of Marissa Miller. Sorry Big J!), so a girl friend helped me decide – Just get both, and return the one you don’t like!
Doi! Why would I buy one suit when I could buy TWO?! Plus, I just really couldn’t decide, so I’m going to make the final decision based on fit.
And, keeping in the spirit of updates, I thought you’d all like to receive an update on my conflict with the size of bushes at my gym. I know, I know, you’re all just DYING to know what I’ve seen now in the ladies’ locker room… wait for it… wait for it…
A mature-lady BRAZILIAN. That’s right ladies, Gs and gents – I saw a woman in her 30s/40s walking around the locker room with a Brazilian. Thank my lucky stars! I tipped my hat off to her. (Actually I really just turned around quickly. If you think seeing someone walking around with a full bush is too much information, well then you have NO IDEA how much information you’re seeing with a Brazilian standing in front of you).
Toodaloo! Happy Friday!
Currently Feeling: Manic. I drank a grande latte this morning – the first coffee I’ve had in three months since giving it up for tea. I feel like my fingers are going to type themselves right off the keyboard!
Currently Anticipating: Oh man. Seeing my boytoy tonight. It’s been a week, and I’m anxiously waiting some lovin.
Currently Loving: That I put a pair of tier two skinny jeans on this morning (tier one would be SUPER skinny jeans) and they don’t feel, or look hopefully, too bad!
In case you’re wondering…
…this is what we're doing all day.

What $30 of red fringe, a completely awesome mother who is willing to sew your Halloween costume, and a boyfriend who doesn’t mind matching gets you:

Hope everyone had a fantastic Halloween this year. I’m retiring yet another costume after three nights, four parties and enough beer to probably cancel out eating for the next week.
Currently Feeling: Pukey and congested. Blech.
Currently Anticipating: Watching my two favorite shows.
Currently Loving: Gingersnap cookies and milk.
Overheard on the bus this morning: Halloween costumes
“One year, I was a milkshake.”
“Oh yeah, how’d that work…”
“I wore red tights and a red sweater, and my mom made this big felt cup with brown felt on the top. I glued Sweetheart boxes around the edge and cut holes out the sides for my arms.”
*Laughs*
“And one year, I was nuclear waste. I wore a Hazmat suit and had slime everywhere.”
“Huh, that’s creative.”
“Oh, and then one year, I was a picnic.”
“A picnic?”
“Yeah, I had a red and white checkered tablecloth skirt, and I glued ants all over my body. I wore an AstroTurf hat and carried around a picnic basket with candy in it.”
Okay, even though I was totally eavesdropping, I had to laugh outloud at that one. I wish I only had that type of Halloween creativity history. Gold star for her!
Currently Feeling: Like I’ve never hated someone so much in my life. So unhealthy.
Currently Anticipating: All the fun Halloween plans I have this weekend! I think I’m going to resurrect the Geisha costume this weekend, and boyfriend can be my Geisha pimp, since they really were call girls.
Currently Watching: The new Indiana Jones.
Things I want to accomplish this weekend:
- Listen to some music that makes me smile on the inside, laugh on the outside and generally thank a higher power that I’m alive (ala Zeppelin’s Tangerine.)
- Snuggle with my boyfriend, who I’ve seen for a total of maybe 12 hours in the last two weeks.
- Find a really stellar pumpkin bread recipe, bake it and try not to eat the whole thing
- Overhaul my bedroom so it feels inviting again: wash bedding, do laundry, hang up clothes, organize, light candles…
- Read on the couch
- Stick to my pre-Halloween diet
- Figure out my Halloween costume and finagle my mom, once again, to sew it for me
I think those are all pretty feasible. Now, let’s see if I can stay away from large amounts of alcohol, which generally makes me scrape any to-do lists and lie around like a big fat amoeba on the couch.
Currently Feeling: So freakin’ relieved.
Currently Anticipating: Hanging with my besties at Dave’s tonight and a little Big Lawson style and Fremont on Saturday.
Currently Loving: That my apartment is clean and nearly put back together again.
